I often wonder if I’m really acting in the Divine Will. If I’m connected to God’s “electrical current.”

We’ve been taught that no matter how small the act, it can participate in the Divine, Eternal Act of God.

Yet, when making my acts in the Will of God, I usually don’t feel or sense anything at all. It seems like I’m living in God’s Will by blind faith, by desire alone.

While thinking about this, an analogy from my own life came to me, giving me new insight into what might be happening.

I wanted to record an improvised melody on the flute using an echo effect to make it sound like I was playing in the Taj Mahal. At the time, the equipment I was using only allowed me to add the effect after I had recorded the melody. In other words, I couldn’t hear the echo as I played. I had to wing it and imagine what it might sound like.

After having recorded a simple series of dry-sounding notes, I was pleasantly surprised when I heard what it sounded like with the echo effect.

I can’t help but believe there is something similar going on when we do our acts in the Divine Will. Only Heaven knows the magnificent effects of our living in the Will of God.

Listen for yourself to the before and after effects of the flute recording.

As an analogy, here’s what we hear when we do our acts in the Divine Will:

And here’s what God hears:

Finally, when we as a group of individuals are faithful to living in the Divine Will, we form something much greater than we can imagine, something that spreads out to all around us with a powerful impact. God can weave the individual acts done in his Will into a grand symphony and chorus of divine praise.

In the end, we have to take it on faith—based on our sincere desire—that we are living in God’s Will, knowing that the Lord will give us those small affirmations from time to time.
